To join the Fireflies program, students must be three years old by May 1, 2026, and be fully toilet-trained. Suppose students turn three years old during May, are fully toilet-trained, and have received written approval from both the ELC Directors and the Auxiliary Programs Director. In that case, they may register for the Fireflies program.
Beauvoir Summer camps provide a safe and supportive environment where campers form meaningful friendships and explore weekly themes through engaging activities, games, stories, music, dramatic play, and arts and crafts. Fireflies strengthen their skills and build confidence.
Every day, campers spend time outside in nature. Beauvoir Summer offers a singular experience at the Cathedral Grounds; counselors may visit the koi pond at Bishop’s Garden, picnic in the Amphitheater, or search for bugs on a hike through Olmstead Woods. Our one-of-a-kind educational play space is built into the camp’s daily schedule at the pool and Beauvoir Outdoors.

Registration and Payment Balances for all programs are due in full by April 30, 2026. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the child’s place in camp. Registration requires a $200 non-refundable or transferable deposit (per camper) at the time of registration, as well as a $50 registration fee per camper. All remaining payments (less deposits and registration fees) are nonrefundable after April 30. For questions regarding summer tuition payments, please get in touch with our Camp Director, Drew Mackay, at drew.mackay@bvrschool.org. Paying by check can be arranged through Abel Lambert (abel.lambert@bvrschool.org) in the Business Office. You are required to put in a credit card online at registration (plus the initial deposit must be made by credit card). For the remaining balance, checks must be received and cleared by April 30; otherwise, the card on file will be charged. Please note that Beauvoir Summer offers financial aid only to campers who are current Beauvoir students already receiving financial aid for tuition; current Beauvoir families may also apply for summer financial aid. Beauvoir Summer 2026 Themes
Our themes are incorporated throughout the week through various activities, projects, and conversations during the camp day, often culminating in a community-wide gathering on Fridays. Campers will also explore much of the Washington National Cathedral grounds on scavenger hunt games and connect with the outdoors. It’s a great place to be a camper! Daily swim instruction is part of the day, along with morning and afternoon snacks, all included in the program price.
Fireflies will have 2-3 swim lessons per week. Lessons will occur with qualified instructors in the shallow end of the central Beauvoir Pool. In addition to this newly added swim lesson, all Fireflies will have a daily splash time at Beauvoir’s toddler pool. The Beauvoir Pool has certified lifeguards on duty throughout the camp day.
Swimsuit and Sunscreen Recommendations
We ask parents to send campers ready in their swimsuits (on their scheduled swim days) with sunscreen applied. A bathing suit with a separate top and bottom is preferred for ease of use in the bathroom. We also recommend sending in a sunscreen spray, reducing the need for counselors to assist with hands-on sunscreen application.
