Applying to Beauvoir

Beauvoir is committed to enrolling children in pre-kindergarten through third grade from a wide variety of family structures, ethnic, racial, cultural, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The school admits approximately 60 children to pre-kindergarten and 25 children to kindergarten each year.

We welcome first, second, and third grade applicants, and we encourage interested families to apply! Children are admitted to those grades when an appropriate opening occurs.

Beauvoir welcomes families to apply for financial aid. Please visit Tuition and Financial Aid to explore the process, and reach out to us if you have questions.

 

We hope the chart below helps to clarify which grade to consider for your child.

Applicants for the 2024-2025 school year must be:

          4 years old by 8/31/24 for Pre-Kindergarten

   5 years old by 8/31/24 for Kindergarten

6 years old by 8/31/24 for First Grade

     7 years old by 8/31/24 for Second Grade

  8 years old by 8/31/24 for Third Grade

Steps in the Application Process

Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are now open in Ravenna.

  • Create an account with Ravenna.
  • Keep your login and password handy, as they are your gateway to the application process.
  • Select Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School to register for an event and/or begin the application process.
  • In-person and some virtual tours are offered weekday mornings from September through December.
  • Tours run approximately 75 minutes.
  • Tours are required unless you have visited the School during a previous admissions season or for a sibling.
  • Applications are due via Ravenna by January 5, 2024.
  • A completed application is required for an applicant visit.
  • For more information about the visit specifics for each grade, please refer to the Applicant Visits section below.
  • A non-refundable $70 application fee is required. Need-based application fee waivers are available. Please contact Margaret Hartigan, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, for more information.

Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten (Required)

  • In order to self-register your pre-kindergarten or kindergarten child for their visit, a completed application is required.
  • Registration for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten applicant visits will open in Ravenna this fall. The Admissions Team will notify families who have a profile in Ravenna when registration opens.
  • Visits take place from mid-November through January.
  • Children will visit Beauvoir with about six other applicants of similar age. Beauvoir embraces and celebrates each child’s unique qualities, so whether your child is soft spoken or teeming with news to share, please know that we will work to make them feel at home during our time together! Our goal is to make this a child-friendly visit.
  • We cannot offer tours during group visits.

 

First through Third Grade

  • The Admissions Office will contact families beginning in January to schedule a visit should there be an appropriate opening and if all required applicant documents have been submitted and received.
  • Please note, not all first through third grade applicants will be scheduled for a visit, as openings may be limited.
  • WISC-V evaluations are due via Ravenna by January 5, 2024.
  • The WISC-V evaluation is required for third grade applicants only. If this presents a challenge for any reason, please contact a member of the Admissions Team.
  • An evaluation is neither required nor accepted for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, first, and second grade applicants.
  • A Teacher Recommendation from the 2023-2024 school year is due to Beauvoir by January 5, 2024
  • Please submit the form to your child’s teacher via Ravenna after November 10, 2023
  • Completed forms should be submitted directly from the recommending teacher and returned via Ravenna or by email to Lauren Pate at lauren.pate@cathedral.org.

Teacher Recommendation Forms for Applicants:

  • Most recent report card from 2023-2024 school year is due to Beauvoir by January 19, 2024
  • All report cards must come directly from your child’s current school
  • Report cards must be submitted directly from your child’s school via Ravenna or by email to Lauren Pate at lauren.pate@cathedral.org.
  • For pre-kindergarten and kindergarten applicants, please have your child’s school send their most recent report card, if applicable. We understand report cards may not be available from all schools. Please contact the Admissions Office if that is the case.

We look forward to welcoming you to various upcoming events, which will include a variety of informational sessions such as Belonging: DEIB at Beauvoir, Overview of the Financial Aid and Application Process, and more! Registration for events is open now via Ravenna.

  • Offered select weekday mornings and afternoons, both in person and virtually
  • Please register via Ravenna.
  • All meetings must be scheduled by the application deadline, January 5, 2024.
  • We are committed to making a Beauvoir education accessible to families from a wide variety of economic backgrounds and welcome families to apply for financial aid. Beauvoir relies on Clarity, a confidential financial-aid assessment platform, to gather pertinent information.
  • Beauvoir welcomes families to apply for financial aid. Please visit Tuition and Financial Aid to explore the process and reach out to the Admissions Team with questions.
  • Financial aid applications are confidential and are only reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee. Admissions decisions are made without regard to whether a family has applied for financial aid.

We are thrilled to welcome out-of-town applicants to Beauvoir and look forward to partnering with you to accommodate your schedule!

Our Admissions Office can offer virtual options, and we hope this flexibility helps to streamline the process for you. Whenever possible, we like to have children applying for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten participate in our in-person group visits. Please inform us as soon as possible of any dates you plan to be in the area so we can schedule accordingly.

For current Beauvoir families interested in applying a sibling for the 2024-2025 school year, please log on to the Parent Portal and navigate to the Resource Board where you will find the Application and Financial Aid Process for Current Beauvoir Families pin.

For siblings of former Beauvoir students, we welcome your application and please contact the Admissions Office with any questions. We can’t wait to see you again! Although sibling families are not required to tour the School, you are always welcome to join us.
