Beauvoir Outdoors

At Beauvoir, students spend time outdoors at least twice per day because we recognize that time spent outdoors boosts a child's happiness, health, confidence and resilience. Beauvoir students learn and play across the 57-acre Cathedral Close, whether exploring Olmsted Woods, the Bishop’s Garden, the Beauvoir courtyard, the Beauvoir Children’s Garden or our playground known as Beauvoir Outdoors, a unique space that supports and expands the curriculum outside of the traditional classroom.

Designed to meet the play and learning needs of children from infancy through the late elementary years, Beauvoir Outdoors provides our students with the chance to foster a spirit of inquiry and a joy in learning outdoors. The final piece of our master plan, Beauvoir Outdoors is meant to transform the School's outdoor space into the best learning environment possible- a place full of wonder, discovery and learning.

At Beauvoir, we believe that young children learn through free, imaginative play, which is crucial for physical, emotional, cognitive and social development. We encourage natural curiousity and exploration in a joyful and safe environment and provide children with numerous opportunities to gain confidence, learn new skills, improve decision-making and form strong bonds with the natural world.
