2nd Annual Family and Caregiver Symposium

Our students’ identities matter to us at Beauvoir and to our friends across the Close community. How can we support these individual identities as our students change and grow?

Last summer, the Beauvoir community was invited to read Dr. Dolly Chugh’s book, The Person You Mean to Be: How Good People Fight Bias. This fall, many of our parent coffees and faculty/staff meetings have connected to Dr. Chugh’s work. In an effort to continue this important dialogue, Beauvoir and its Parents Association will co-host a Family and Caregiver Symposium on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The focus of our work will be “Identity Matters.” Beauvoir is inviting prospective families and Close-wide community members to join us for this special event.

The keynote speaker and workshop leader for the symposium is Dr. Derrick Gay, a leading international consultant and figure in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion [DEI] world. Dr. Gay will share the research and framework around identity, as well as the narrative for the importance of making this work a priority in our families and schools.
