Ryann Fapohunda Named Beauvoir's Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

After a nationwide search, Ryann Fapohunda will join Beauvoir as the new Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging and Director of Beauvoir’s Specialist Team effective July 1, 2023. 

 

Ryann comes to Beauvoir from Bullis School in Potomac, MD, where she is presently Director of Teaching and Learning K-12. She has more than 10 years of experience in independent schools including National Cathedral School and The Wellington School in Columbus, Ohio. She earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Dayton, an MEd from Antioch University, and an  MSEd in school leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.

"The faculty have beautifully and meaningfully integrated DEIB work into the curriculum in a developmentally appropriate manner for young learners, and it is incredible to see that work in practice." 

 

Ryann brings a wealth of experience in ensuring curriculum reflects the diversity of the school community; leading workshops on brain development, student learning, and support for students with learning differences; and creating a safe and nurturing environment for students, faculty, staff, and families to engage in deep and meaningful learning. 

 

 “A quote that has guided my professional practice is ‘You can’t teach what you don’t know, and you can’t lead where you won’t go,’” Ryann shared. “If we want our students to matriculate from our schools and venture into the world prepared for life and equipped with cultural competencies, those skills must be cultivated beginning at a young age.”
