First Grade Cathedral Art

First graders are on their way to becoming Cathedral experts! In art, first graders have learned how to draw the façade of the Cathedral by breaking it down into basic shapes such as rectangles, triangles, and circles. Once one has drawn the basic shapes, one can add all the awesome details of the architecture, such as the pointed arches, windows and doors. A good tip when drawing something as complex as the Cathedral: basic shapes first! First graders turned our initial drawings into prints by carving a Styrofoam plate, inking it with rollers, and printing our plates with the help of a partner.
