Community Engagement Associate

Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School, located in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Community Engagement Associate who is responsible for helping to deepen the engagement of key stakeholders and constituents of Beauvoir, including alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and current parents. This is accomplished through the strategic use of events, communications, and other outreach initiatives.
Specific duties and responsibilities of the Community Engagement Associate:

Essential Duties
  • In support of the Director of Institutional Advancement, develop a plan to assess and to increase the level of engagement among all constituencies. Serve as the chief support for non-admission constituent visits to campus. Serve as the chief contact for constituency-based affinity groups, such as the Grandparents Council.

  • In conjunction with the Director of Institutional Advancement, serve as the chief support for Parents Association events and activities.

  • In support of the Director of Communications and Marketing and in correlation with the Manager of Digital and Print Communications, develop and execute a plan to enhance communications with a focus on each of the various audiences who are connected to Beauvoir.

  • In coordination with the Assistant Director of Advancement, steward donors among Beauvoir’s various constituencies, supporting recognition events; cultivate involvement and help transition participants into active philanthropic support. Assist with the successful onboarding  and education of new parents in volunteer and philanthropic participation.

  • In correlation with the Assistant Director of Advancement, plan and execute donor recognition events. Advise and support the Advancement Team in all efforts to broaden the impact and success of Beauvoir events.

  • Support the School in executing recruitment and educational/informational events for prospective and current families, and prospective employees.

  • Manage the correspondence from the Head of School for external constituents, including es, memorials and special occasions.
  • Perform other duties including a weekly lunch with a “buddy” class, assisting with arrival or dismissal, and participating in the school community.
Minimum Qualifications (education, certification, years’ experience)
  • Bachelor’s Degree; experience in development/fundraising preferred.
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management systems; preferably Raiser’s Edge, as well as Blackbaud K-12 software and event management systems.
  • Experience in an independent school preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (ex:  best practices, teambuilding, detail oriented, physical demands, work environment)
  • Ability to work independently; a self-starter with a high level of integrity and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion; must be professional in all aspects.
  • Ability to collaborate with a three-person Advancement Team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and interact appropriately with all constituencies including parents, donors, volunteers, and colleagues. Professionalism, maturity, good judgment, humor, and flexibility.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal teams throughout the school and interest in creating strategies that encourage cross-departmental collaboration
  • Knowledge and proficiency in fundraising strategies and techniques, particularly around constituent relations and engagement strategies.
  • Excellent writing skills/ability.
