ABC (After Beauvoir Center) Lead Educator

Under the supervision of the Director and Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs, the ABC (After Beauvoir Center) Lead Educator plans and leads activities, continually developing and implementing new program ideas for the children who attend Pre-Kindergarten-third grade.
The Lead Educator helps create community among all students by implementing Responsive Classroom techniques and the Beauvoir Life Rules. The Lead Educator will be responsible for managing and developing the ABC staff of Assistant Educators and creating an overall positive environment for all staff. The Lead Educator communicates weekly with the Director and Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs in all areas of the ABC program. This is a full-time 12-month position, managing after care during the school year and summer camp. 


  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum with experience and/or education in elementary aged children
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Be available to work 12noon-6pm Monday-Friday with extended hours on ocassion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willing to develop professionally
  • Be highly organized, flexible and dependable with a strong work ethic
  • Demonstrate leadership and experience supervising staff

General Responsibilities

  • Be punctual and reliable with attendance
  • Provide engaging enrichment education for children ages 4-9
  • Supervise four staff members on aftercare team
  • Provide a productive and positive learning environment
  • Be comfortable leading lessons/activities
  • Be patient, flexible and able to work collaboratively with children and adults
  • Be able to handle challenging behaviors in a way that encourages children to learn from the situation
  • Be able to communicate professionally with children, parents and colleagues
  • Maintain confidential information

Duties include

  • Ensure continuity between the ABC program and the mission of the school
  • Answer parent, teacher, and/or staff questions/concerns in a timely and professional manner while maintaining confidentiality
  • Manage enrollment records and creating reports for the Business Office, for billing purposes
  • Maintain attendance records (check-in and check-out times) of enrolled students and drop-in students
  • Complete monthly attendance reports for the Business office
  • Maintain ABC Information and the Pictures from ABC bulletin boards for parents and visitors
  • Plan decorative bulletin boards with staff and changing boards at least seasonally
  • Meet weekly with Director and Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs.
  • Organize and maintain supplies and equipment needed for projects and activities
  • Maintain and ensure acute awareness of food allergens and student allergies during snack and cooking activities
  • Assist students in grades 1-3 with homework assignments for the purpose of supporting both teachers in the instructional process as well as the needs of the individual families
  • Report observations and incidents (social behavior, accidents, health concerns, etc.) to the families involved as well as the Director
  • Organize staff and themes/activities for special events where additional hours of coverage are needed (some events listed below):
    • Grade level Potluck Dinners/Back to School Nights (5-6)
    • Parent Talks
    • New Parent Dinner
    • State of the School Address
    • Professional Play Days
    • Conferences days
    • Winter Break Camps
    • Spring Break Camps  
    • Request guest (substitute) teacher coverage as needed for staff absences
    • Assist with other duties as assigned by Head of School or Administrators
  • Plan the daily schedule of activities for ABC
  • Plan and maintain a monthly calendar of projects/activities and special events
