Our Student Body
Beauvoir’s student body is 46% racially and ethnically diverse. Families that comprise our community speak approximately 25 languages other than English in their homes, including but not limited to Spanish, French, Greek, Dutch, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Ibo, Mandarin and Farsi. 

Our Faculty and Staff
We are deeply committed to hiring a diverse and inclusive faculty and staff who will validate each student and family. Faculty and staff on the Mosaic Committee partner to design programming and discussions on topics of diversity and inclusivity as they intersect with our mission and core values. Our faculty has regular opportunities to widen their capacity to offer inclusive pedagogy. As a result, they encourage intellectual and cultural curiosity and intentionally integrate inclusive pedagogy into students' daily experiences. Teachers model and promote the Beauvoir Life Rules of kindness, respect, responsibility, and honesty. Policies, practices, procedures, and curricula are consistently reviewed to ensure that our community is welcoming and inclusive of all. We have aligned our practices with our belief that the beginning is the most important part of the work. We prepare students to be model global citizens who recognize, understand, and celebrate the characteristics that form each community member's individual identity. 

 

Beauvoir families embrace these values and serve as collaborative partners with the School’s administrators, faculty, and staff. Kaleidoscope, a parent-led initiative and committee of the Parents Association that is open to all Beauvoir parents, affirms and supports the Beauvoir community as one in which parents approach conversations related to diversity and inclusion with vibrant curiosity, courage, and interest in connecting across differences.

Recognizing that parents are our children’s first teachers, Kaleidoscope offers parents an opportunity, consistent with Beauvoir’s mission and strategic plan, to use the brilliance and vibrancy of our community to help prepare our children for a changing world, and navigate their questions about that world.

Kaleidoscope offers parents an opportunity to explore these topics as one community, with a spirit of inquiry, growth, and shared purpose. Kaleidoscope pursues its mission by hosting parent conversations, speakers, book clubs, and other engaging activities, creating a gathering space for parents to reflect on diversity and inclusion topics, particularly as they relate to parents of young children.
